Me Project #1

One of the things my friend helped me to realize is that I need to focus some on myself and making myself happy. I have to say, I know my choices probably would not be the choices you would make if you found yourself in my shoes. All I can say, is that I need to start somewhere that I am comfortable with. Just a small step. In time those small steps will lead to bigger ones.

I told you about the home office and how it is very depressing to me and I really can't spend a lot of time there. But I really need a space for me. A space all of my own that I can work from. The must haves are a table (I really don't think I want a traditional desk), chair and some sort of bulletin board. I LOVE Sarah's space. I nabbed a picture from her blog...



Sarah has a whole room. She knits, sews, quilts among many other things. It's an awesome room. But I don't have a whole room.

Option One: Suck it up...clear off my desk and stay in the office. Drawbacks - I really won't be happy there.

Option Two: A small corner in the living room. Drawbacks - when you walk in the front door and turn right you are in the living room. The area would always have to be neat and tidy and it wouldn't be a very private space. Especially when you consider how much time others spend there watching tv, playing games, etc.

Option Three: We have a "breakfast area" in the kitchen. That's usually where the three of us eat. We also have a dinning room. We only use it when we have people over. It already has a table and chairs. Drawbacks - Again when you walk into the house and turn left you are in this room. Plus others tend to drop things off here: bookbags, school assignments, newspapers etc.

Option Four: We have a walk in closet that is pretty big. I know what you are thinking yuck - dark and creepy. But I've seen some nice office closets - look at this one.



Not bad. And my walk in closet even has a window. I could put the table right under the window. Drawbacks - we do use this closet and there probably wouldn't be a place for a bulletin board unless I put it on the back of the closet door.

Option Five: We have a pretty big bedroom. In one corner we have a trunk that matches our bedroom furniture. I could move that into the closet under the window and put the table there. I would have room for a bulletin board.

Pat me on the back because today I'm going to go out and say hello to a few of my blogging friends and invite them over. If that's how you found me, thank you for visiting. I know my life isn't exciting, but I could really use some friends right now. And because I'm a little afraid to make decision right now, I really would like some input.

Queen of Unfinished Projects

That's the title my husband gave me. And I've talked to a lot of you stitchers and you all seem to be just like me. I don't think I'm that unusual. But I have decided to finish up as many unfinished projects as I can because I really don't like his title or the other comments he made.

I think the only other stitcher he knows was his Great Aunt Virginia. When I met her she was probably in her 70s. I'm sure when she was younger she stitched many different projects but when I met her it was Christmas Stockings. She made them from her children, grand children and great grand children! But she picked out one project completed it and sent it on to it's home before she ever started another project. I'm not sure if that was just her nature not to have unfinished projects or if it was a byproduct of living in the depression. But she never ever had an unfinished project (except the last project she was working on). More about that another day. She died several years ago and I still really really miss her. She was a wonderful lady.

I have dug around in my unfinished projects and pulled one out. It's a pansy project. If you had asked me 6 months ago why it landed in the unfinished pile, I would have told you I got tired of all the purple. And really I did. But that's not the whole story. We moved into our home about 3 years ago and one of the rooms is a bright sunny cheery yellow with white built in shelves. We decided to make it the office and both of us would have a desk in the room. And we do. I decided this would be the perfect picture to hang over my desk. But then I discovered he was emailing and IMing and all from his desk. And honestly I can't stand walking into this room now. I still go in to clean and my cookbooks are on the shelves. But I don't spend much time in here. I still love the project though and I can find a new place to hang it, right?

So I present Stitching Project One - The Pansy Project.

Why Second Chances?

I tried to blog before but wasn't very good at it. I thought I always had to be happy and positive. Also most of my blogger friends are cross stitchers and compared to them I never get anything done. I really think there are a couple of them that I could give a Heaven and Earth design and check with them tomorrow and they would be finished. They are that fast.

However I've been going through a lot and after emailing with a blogger friend, I think I will try this again. She has encouraged me to be myself and be honest that I'll still have friends.

The truth is I'm not in a very good relationship. It's hard for me to say it's abusive because he doesn't hit me but I'm learning there are other types of abuses. He's not faithful to me either. Honestly I'm not that happy or positive right now. I haven't been for awhile. To be painfully honest, I was trying to plan a way to end my life.

I haven't been cross stitching for awhile either. I just wasn't interested. And because I'm so stressed, I am having a lot of migraines and you just can't cross stitch with a migraine.

So that's the why. I'm trying to give blogging a second chance, my life a second chance and my stitching a second chance.
